Here is my video entry for the 2021 ARTS THREAD Global Design Graduate Show. In this video I discuss my illustration style, artistic process and senior thesis concept from my BFA program at the Fashion Institute of Technology. I studied illustration at FIT and for my senior thesis I designed a series of book covers for my favorite fairytale and period romance novels. I decided to pursue this idea for my senior thesis because I am interested in illustrating books and designing book covers. I made designs for the Bridgerton book series by Julia Quinn, Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice and for Disney's Beauty and the Beast. To create these illustrations, I first made refined sketches with pencil on paper and then colored these drawings in digitally by using either photoshop or procreate. My senior thesis demonstrates my style of using floral motifs to either frame the composition or act as symbols to the stories being told in my work. This series also displays my passion for fairytale and fantasy illustration.
